For the Saint Nicolas I wanted to share with you a recipe to wait for Christmas.

Behind this name this cache of small cakes of alsace’s traditional that we eat without end during the year-end holiday season.

Bredele alsatian


  • 650 g flour
  • 300 g of sugar
  • 250 g of butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 egg yolk for eggwash


Mix by hand the butter in pieces, the sugar and the eggs until obtain a homogenous mixture.
Add the flour in one fell swoop, quickly mix, and flip the whole on the work surface and then knead the mass in order to obtain a ball.

Preheat the oven to 180°.

Spread it out on 4 mm thick and make shapes with the punch.

Gild the whole egg yolk and add the sugar on some cakes if you want.

Put in the oven for 10 min of cooking.
