Today it is Saint Nicolas, then, to put in the Christmas mood I wanted to provide you with an idea to make with the kids (or big for that matter !). A gingerbread house full of candy to devour, to make like Hansel and Gretel…just be careful you don’t get eaten by the witch !!!

This house was done last year with the help of Mr….(yes we are big kids !), with the facades of the house of our Swedish friend, but promised I will try that it is “home made” in the next year !

Gingerbread house {St. Nicholas}

Ingredients

  • A gingerbread house
  • The candy of your choice

For the icing cement

  • 1 egg white
  • 110 g of icing sugar
  • 1/2 c. to c. of lemon juice

For the icing and decoration to swiss meringue

  • 1 egg white
  • 2 x the weight of the egg white-sugar

Description

Prepare your icing cement in order to be able to climb the walls and the roof of your house, for it beat the white in firm snow with the lemon juice and then add the icing sugar using a spatula. Have this mixture in a piping bag and assemble then the different sections. Let it dry for ten minutes.

During this time, prepare the swiss meringue for this, put the egg white and sugar in the bottom of the pool to the top of a bain-marie and beat the preparation in a bain marie until it tiédisse and form a beautiful meringue is smooth and shiny. Then remove the bottom of the pool of the bain-marie and continue to beat the meringue to cool down.

Put the preparation into a piping bag and decorate the house to your liking ! For decor add some candy in on top of the meringue before it hardens.

Decorate and devour at your leisure !!!
